About Us

Our mission is to promote the ongoing advancement, recognition and professional development of women crime writers.

Sisters in Crime welcomes all writers, readers, publishing professionals, booksellers, and librarians. SINC promotes women writers of crime fiction with opportunities to network, socialize, and learn.

The organization was founded by Chicagoland member Sara Paretsky and a group of women writers at the 1986 Bouchercon Convention in Baltimore. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in mystery and suspense. .

Our purpose is to promote the interests of Sisters in Crime nationally, and enable our chapter members to network with each other, expand their knowledge of the craft and business of writing, and advance their own writing. We meet monthly for instruction, information, and camaraderie. Join us on Facebook, Instagram, at our monthly meetings, and special events.
